Romeo and Juliet...Happy Endings

SCENE: Romeo tries to drink the poison given by the Apothecary
Romeo baffled by the day's events, stumbles into Juliet's tomb. As he walks slowly toward his beloveds grave, his eyes become fuzzy: a tear starts to fall down his cheek.
Romeo sees her ghostly white face, her perfect lips, longing for them, for her with all his being. Death seems to have done nothing, if not enhance her beauty. Yet, there is something life-like in her pale face. He gently touch his hands om her cheeks, absorbing every detail in her faultless figure.
More tears appear on the stone covered floor beside his dearly loved. Whispering a prayer under his breath, he procures a short thin glass tube from the lining of his coat: a deadly poison. With the words of the apothecary ringing in his head, he slowly raises liquid to his quivering lips.
Her eye lids flicker; he abruptly stops the poisons journey toward his mouth. It must have been a trick of the light, he tried to persuade himself. He tries to block out what he has just seen, yet he cannot. He could not help but allow a small bubble of hope to arise in his soul. Her fore-finger moves; now this must be true. Unable to retain himself, he collapses on top of Juliet. Embracing her; feeling torso move gently upward and down. Forgetting completely about his near suicide attempt; the tube falls, shattering into hundreds of pieces, obliging the contents to seep into the crevices of the stone flooring.
‘’Romeo….’’ Oh! What a sweet sound her voice makes. His heart skips a beat, looking into her face he sees the reflecting of himself in her beautiful blue eyes. No two people have ever felt that much love, that much selflessness, that much compassion, as those two felt in that single instant. Embracing each other for seconds, which seemed like hours, the two finally separated. Realizing what precious time to they had to escape before Romeo was to be found, they promptly devise a plan.
Unable to think clearly, the two star-crossed lovers run hand in hand out of the Capulet filled cemetery. Together at last, they are indifferent to their fate, as long as they remain together. Unbeknownst to them, a cornucopia of people of Verona knew of Romeo’s un-welcomed return. This news had reached Friar Lawrence, who, as Romeo and his Juliet soon would discover, waited for them at the entrance of the church.
As they exited the great church of fair Verona, Friar Lawrence was waiting for them with a horse-drawn carriage. Relieved, the husband and wife entered, with the Friar at the reigns. Days became weeks, weeks became years, and none had seen or heard of the lovers of Friar Lawrence. Then, not one so special day, a letter arrived at the Capulet household, saying that Juliet had died happily in her sleep. Later in that same year a similar letter appeared at the Montague mansion starting Romeo's quiet death which had also occurred during his slumber.
